(Part 1) Stress, flu and a strong pain with Acupuncture and Herbal medicine

“ Stress, Flu and a strong pain with Acupuncture and Herbal medicine “

                                                ( a  Blog about my blogs )

After the writing of “Sleepless & Stressed inVancouver”, I felt drained and stressed, to be honest, and it’s time for the income-tax report in Canada with the complexity of HST in BC.   Murphy’s law has kicked into my clinic with more patients complaining of depression, anxiety and insomnia.  Often I have a bad habit of simulating the pathology of the patient’s complaints for the analysis of diagnosis, which affects myself reversely.

Then another group of patients complaining of prolonged symptoms of flu began to show up (the first article I have written last year).  I can’t rule out the co-relation of current spread of chronic flu situation with the the world-wide vaccination carried out against H1N1 swine flu in last two years.   Recently, WHO had admitted that there were some factors of exaggeration and over-reaction.  As most of you are aware, vaccines are just weakened or dead virus mixed with a bit of mercury, a cocktail of toxins.  A rather deceptive trick to train the immune system to identify the enemy pattern and prepare to engage to fight, but most of the time, the intelligence of the enemy will out-smart the next time they penetrate our defense system.   What is ignored or missing in this vaccine trick is the strength of defense level and size of our defense resources that can be engaged.

As for treating the flu in current conventional medicine, it can be antibiotics to lessen the secondary damage while retreating from the advancing enemy forces or, in worst case, steroids to suppress our own defense mechanism, raising a white flag, a trade with lesser evil, or the famous Tamiflu – a former US defense secretary is a major investor and board member.   Tamiflu is based on a single chinese herb called Xiao Hui Xiang, which is not even popular among TCM prescriptions or ever been known to be used for the flu cases. The last time I ever used this herb is about 10 years ago for a woman complaining of chronic lower stomach pain which is aggravated towards the menstrual cycle.

I vaccinate my family and patients with herbal tonic potion (decoction or concentrated granules) strengthening the level and increasing the resources of defensive qi (immune system).    Also for treating the flu, I know no other better medicine that works so fast and without compromising immune system than the 2,000 year old formulas of Dr. Zhang.  Marvelled and thankful whenever I prescribe the potion for my patients and children, asides myself living on a medical profession.

Few weeks ago, I began to feel a strong pain on my right lower tooth (molar) with swellings on gum and TMJ area lymph node, after strong dental flossing I did previous night.  Oh lord, visit to Dentist is my last choice !.   For this chicken patient, I performed acupuncture on two points; one on my left hand (unaffected side, LI-4 (point name))  for moving the stagnated Qi causing pain and inflammation, the other on the right side below the knee (ST-36) for directing to the channel leading to the right lower teeth.  Pain got better the next day, but the swelling remained with a  bit of rotten smell.  Prescribed a formula for clearing toxic heat, processing the pus and cooling blood heat in the stomach channel.   Few days after, I got finally freed from the pain and swelling.

For a practitioner of classical medicine, I find there are scarce references and attentions to the dental medicine, historically.  The disorders of human dental problems began to surge after the introduction of processed white sugar, which are used virtually everywhere in the processed foods and beverages.

Yes, for the last few weeks, I went through  stress  -> mild flu and fever -> a strong toothache.  But, above all, the pain of tooth was most impressive, something I didn’t experience myself for a long time other than daily encounters of the patient’s pains.

When you feel the pain,

the time stops,

and the reality couldn’t be any more real.
